First thing's first, I love National Parks. I live in Cedar City, Utah which is surrounded by 5 amazing National Parks. As you can imagine I visit the parks often. One of the best things I have ever done is purchase an Annual National Parks pass for $80. Usually entrance to a park for one day costs $30. If you go to a National Park just 3 times a year the pass has paid for itself.

I want to share with you how I prepare to take advantage of my Annual Parks pass.
Snacks and water. Often times hikes in National Parks can be long because the amazing destinations are kept far away from parking lots to help preserve them. You should be prepared with enough snacks and water for everyone you are visiting the park with. If you plan on being there over lunchtime you should pack a light lunch.

Never hike without a backpack. That's my rule of thumb because snacks are a necessity. My favorite outdoor backpack is my Ogdenmade.

Traffic and travel alerts can be found on the nps website for . You can also find out when peak hours are if you want to avoid the crowd.
Check the weather in the parks to make sure your attire is appropriate. Layers are always a good idea. Since you have the backpack you can shed them if need be.

Always ask a park ranger for tips. Park rangers spend a lot of time in the park and they will know the best places to catch the sunset, cool down in the midday heat, or where to find things that tourists usually miss.
If you decide you are as passionate about National Parks as I am you can try One Epic National Park Road Trip Across the USA that spans to 43 out of the 47 continental parks. I'm sure it would be easy to add the other island National Parks to the trip if you are willing to go all out. You can also download a Free National Parks checklist to help you plan your own trips.
I love National Parks so if you have any other questions please slide into my DM's. Remember you deserve a breath of fresh air.
