This week I have been playing catch up from our trip to Yosemite National Park.

We were on a voyage to see the "firefalls". As you can see, we saw it! This amazing feature happens in late February when the sun sets. If you catch the timing perfectly you can watch the sunset move across the mountain and land right in the crack of horsetail falls. This year Yosemite National Park experienced little to no run off so horsetail falls was not flowing. I was amazed to find out that the sunset alone looks like magma against the rock, no water needed. I can only imagine what the firefalls would look like with run off.

Since there was little to no run off we were able to actually climb bridal veil falls. It was a little breezy which resulted in a lot of cold mist and awesome pictures. I would highly recommend seeing this waterfall from the base and looking around the 360 view of mountain side. I would also highly recommend doing this with an ogden made pack since they are so waterproof and durable.

You can see just how windy it was in the park in this tunnel view picture. Bridal Veil falls is falling almost completely side ways. I love this park in the summer but I also have a new love for Yosemite winters.

This trip our rig consisted of the Jeep and the Tepui car tent. The car tent made for quick set ups after long days in the park. Our car tent kept us warm and cozy in the middle of winter, which I would say is very impressive. We were not able to stay in the park because many of the campsites are closed in the winter and our trip was planned last minute. We stayed at one of our favorite sits in Lake McSwain.

On our way out of the park the darker skies and smog made for an amazing landscape. I love the saying "The mountains are calling and I must go." -John Muir. This picture is the perfect example of how the mountains call me. This view made me never want to leave. I wanted to hike those hills for days, after all Yosemite has a lot of fresh air.
